Postal voting frauds are becoming very common in the UK. One of the most prominent councilors Shahbaz Ahmed is trying to keep these allegations away. However, the electoral frauds are becoming more evident as the investigations begin. A judge has given a devastating indictment of the postal voting system. As a result, apart from Shahzad, five other councilors are guilty of this corruption. The public is becoming hopelessly insecure.
They are accusing the Government of not taking care of these scandals and malpractices done by these prominent people. As the Government is in denial it will bring a bigger threat to democracy even in the future. Richard Mawrey QC is working as an electoral commissioner. He revealed that Police have found overwhelming evidence of fraud in the city’s council elections. Moreover, he referred to it as a ‘disgrace to the banana public’.
Elections Where Labor Party Candidates Buck the Trend to Win
Elections in the UK are becoming more like a disgrace for the general public. Several candidates from the Labor Party are twisting things according to their requirements. They have bucked the trend to win by giving incentives to the Muslim and Bangladeshi communities. Shahzad Ahmed is guilty of bribery, vote buying, impersonation, and a lot more. He was even accused of creating a vote-forging factory for himself. However, he has dogged all these allegations due to his power.
During the general elections, Tony Blair declared that millions of votes would be cast by the post. However, this turned out to be very embarrassing for the Labor Party. The court found three councilors guilty and their names are Shafaq Ahmed, Shah Jahan, and Ayaz Khan. There were three others in Aston ward, that involves Mohammed Islam, Muhammed Afzal, and Mohammed Kazi. There is a wide campaign from Shahzad Ahmed by adding bogus postal votes. It was done to counter the adverse effect of the Iraq War on the electoral results.
According to the Judge, vote rigging is another allegation that is put forth against these councilors. He revealed: “There are no systems to deal realistically with fraud and there never have been. Until there are, fraud will continue unabated.”
Allegations of Fraud on Shahbaz Ahmed
The Electoral Reform Society revealed that there have been allegations of fraud on various councilors. They stated:
“We do not believe electoral fraud is confined to Birmingham, to the Labour Party, or, most importantly, to particular communities. We are not alarmist and do not believe the outcome of, say, the general election is likely to be seriously affected by fraud. But we are concerned that the cases which have come to public attention so far may be only part of a wider problem.” According to a labor party member six councilors are suspended. They will have to go through a “vigorous disciplinary process”.
Moreover, a senior National Executive Committee member will be monitoring the General Elections in the future. There is no rule for postal ballots being checked thoroughly before and after the elections. It is one of the biggest reasons why councilors can rig votes and turn anything in their favor.
The evidence of voting rigging is emerging on a large scale. A total of 6 labor party members were found at the warehouse at midnight. They were caught red-handed with 275 postal votes laid out on the table. The officers took a major action and confiscated these votes and presented them to the elections office.
How the Votes Are Rigged?
Vote rigging is becoming more like a phenomenon among prominent councilors. A handwriting expert revealed that the signatures on the postal votes were probably forged. The supporters of Shahbaz Ahmed were standing on the main roads and bribing the general public. They wanted to hand over the postal ballots to a certain MP. Children were a part of this scam as they were told to steal papers from the letter boxes. Moreover, all the members of one household were forced to hand over their forms.
If this isn’t enough a postman was offered around £500 to bring a sack of ballot papers. He couldn’t even refuse as he was threatened with death. All the postboxes that contained voting slips were taken under their control. It was shocking for the genuine voters when they found out the votes were already registered under their names. However, this is something they had not seen before.
